Bandipora, Jan 07 : The authorities on Saturday seized three punt guns in Saderkoot Payeen and Garoora villages of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
An official told Kashmir News Service (KNS) the poachers, however, fled from the spot leaving behind the punt guns.
He said the punt guns were seized by anti-poaching control room of the Forest Protection Force and Wular Conservation and Management Authority near the banks of Wular Lake in Saderkoot Payeen and Garoora.
He said a case had been filed under relevant sections of law and further investigation was initiated.   Notably, the use of punt guns in and near Wular Lake is prohibited by the authorities, but locals claim despite ban hunters use locally made firearms to kill wetland birds without impunity.
