After Kupwara, VPN services banned in Shopian district

Police in Shopian informs the general public that, in the interest of maintaining public order and ensuring security, the Deputy Commissioner Shopian has ordered the suspension of Virtual Private Network (VPN) services across District Shopian, with immediate effect, until further orders.

The said order has been issued in view of prevailing security considerations and the potential misuse of VPN services, which may impede lawful monitoring and pose risks to public safety.

The said order has been issued in view of prevailing security considerations and the potential misuse of VPN services, which may impede lawful monitoring and pose risks to public safety.

All residents of District Shopian are requested to strictly adhere to the order and cooperate with the district administration and police.

It is reiterated that any non-compliance or violation of the order shall invite strict legal action under relevant provisions of law.

J&K Police seeks the cooperation of the public in maintaining peace, security and the larger public interest.
