The function was presided over by the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO), MG Singh besides maintaining social distancing as many as 40 farmers were given free mini kits of pulses to encourage cultivation of pulses and enhance the income of farmers.

SDAO also advised farmers to maintain social distance and follow other guideline as per protocol to combat the spread of COVID-19 while performing agricultural activities in their fields.

He informed that the benefit of cultivating cash crop of pulses in this lean season is that not only a pulse crop gets ready in 60 days but also boosts the nitrogen fixation (quantity of nitrogen in soil) thereby requiring supplementation of less urea in next crop.

He also informed that, so far this year, 400 quintals of maize seed and vegetable seeds including 50 kg hybrid seeds and 30 quintals open pollinated seeds have been distributed at subsidised rates to the farmers at the door steps through the seasonal outlets in Panchayats.
