Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Friday said that residents of far-flung areas, including Gurez, Tulail, Tangdhar, and Karnah, are demanding helicopter services for medical emergencies, as these regions are completely cut off due to heavy snowfall.

He said that the administration must consider this demand, as media reports indicate that some people in these areas are in dire need of medical attention.

In his statement issued here, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “The recent heavy snowfall has rendered several border areas, including Gurez, Tulail, Tangdhar, and Karnah, completely isolated. The residents of these areas currently have no land connectivity with the rest of the world. Reports indicate they are requesting helicopter services for medical emergencies, which is a valid demand that requires immediate attention from the authorities.”

“Major routes, including the Bandipora-Gurez Road, Kupwara-Tangdhar Road, and Karnah-Chowkibal Road, are buried under heavy snow, cutting off access to several areas. As is often the case, these areas may remain isolated for weeks. Therefore, it is imperative to ensure the availability of a helicopter service for emergencies. People cannot be left helpless in such harsh weather conditions,” Bukhari added.
