Srinagar, Dec 27:- The Ambedkar Samaj Party (ASP) State Media Incharge, Zahid Ahmad Haji, has expressed deep concern and strongly condemned the recent incidents of harassment and attacks on Kashmiri shawl vendors and traders in various parts of the country outside Jammu and Kashmir. He termed these incidents as inhuman and unlawful, stating that they go against the constitutional values of equality, dignity, and the fundamental right to earn a livelihood.
In a statement issued here, Zahid Ahmad Haji said that Kashmiri traders, especially shawl vendors, travel to different states only to earn an honest living. Targeting them on the basis of their identity or regional background is completely unacceptable and has led to fear, insecurity, and social division. He added that such acts not only harm innocent citizens but also tarnish the image of the country and pose a serious threat to national unity and communal harmony.
He further stressed that the safety and dignity of every Indian citizen must be ensured, irrespective of region, religion, or profession. Expressing serious concern, he said that repeated incidents of harassment and violence have created a growing sense of insecurity among Kashmiris who are living and working outside Jammu and Kashmir.
In this context, the Ambedkar Samaj Party has earnestly appealed to the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir to take up the matter at the highest level with the concerned State Governments and Central authorities. The party has sought immediate intervention to stop such attacks, strict legal action against the perpetrators, and adequate protection along with confidence-building measures for Kashmiris residing or working outside J&K.
Zahid Ahmad Haji also urged the Central Government to issue clear and firm directions to all States and Union Territories to ensure the safety, liberty, and livelihood of Kashmiri citizens and traders across the country.
Reiterating its commitment to justice, equality, and constitutional rights, the Ambedkar Samaj Party affirmed that it stands firmly with the Kashmiri community and will continue to raise its voice against all forms of discrimination and injustice.
