Condemn Western Aggression & Urge Global De-escalation; Emphasize “Humanity Needs to Be Rediscovered”
Srinagar, March 1: In the wake of the tragic martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in a joint US-Israeli military strike, Jammu and Kashmir Awami National Conference (ANC) President Begum Khalida Shah and Senior Vice President Muzaffar Shah have expressed profound grief and heartfelt tributes.
Describing the incident as a grave blow to global peace and stability, the ANC leaders condemned the “high-handedness” and aggressive actions of Western powers, which they said have escalated tensions to dangerous levels in the Middle East.
“The martyrdom of Ayatollah Khamenei is a profound loss not only for the Iranian people but for all those who stand for sovereignty & justice,” Begum Khalida Shah stated. “We pay our deepest respects to his legacy of steadfast leadership and call upon the international community to reflect on the sanctity of human lives.”
Muzaffar Shah echoed these sentiments, urging restraint and wisdom in these turbulent times. “Humanity must be rediscovered and the sacredness of life preserved at all costs,” he said.
He added that “The situation in the Middle East has become drastically volatile and risks spiraling into a wider conflict that could engulf the entire region and potentially the world. We appeal for peace, calm and good sense to prevail over vengeance and aggression.”
The leaders emphasized the urgent need for de-escalation and dialogue to prevent further catastrophe. They also addressed the implications for Indian citizens, particularly those from Jammu and Kashmir, amid the unfolding crisis.
Shah also called upon the Central Government and J&K Government to ensure the safety and security of several thousands of Indian citizen, including individuals from Jammu and Kashmir currently in the affected regions.
