Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday expressed concern over the unfolding situation in Iran following reports about the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
In a post shared on social media handle X, the Chief Minister appealed to all communities to remain calm and maintain peace. He urged people to avoid any action that could trigger tension or unrest in J&K.
He said those who are mourning in J&K must be allowed to grieve peacefully. He asked the police and civil administration to act with restraint and avoid the use of force or restrictive measures.
Omar Abdullah also said that the Government of J&K is in close coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. He said the focus remains on ensuring the safety and well being of J&K residents in Iran, including students.
