Srinagar, August 6: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah held a series of public interactions today at the Raabita Outreach Office, where he met with delegations, legislators, trade representatives, and citizens from across Jammu & Kashmir to review pressing developmental and sectoral concerns.

The day began with a detailed meeting with Members of the Legislative Assembly — Farooq Ahmad Shah (Gulmarg), Sajjad Shafi (Uri), Irshad Rasool Kar (Sopore), Shafi Ahmad Wani (Beerwah), and Pawan Gupta (Udhampur West) — who briefed the Chief Minister on urgent issues specific to their constituencies, including infrastructure gaps, service delivery, and administrative delays requiring immediate redressal.
Later, a delegation from the Traders Federation of Shopian presented a charter of demands, seeking government intervention to resolve logistical constraints and enhance market access for local businesses. The Chief Minister acknowledged the significance of Shopian’s economic potential and assured appropriate follow-up.
In another important interaction, a delegation from the School of Architecture, Kashmir, expressed concern over the lack of employment opportunities for qualified architects in the region. They urged the government to create posts and institutionalize architectural expertise within urban planning frameworks. The Chief Minister noted the need for such integration, especially in the wake of J&K’s ongoing infrastructure transformation.
A separate deputation comprising transporters and shopkeepers of the Old Batamaloo General Bus Stand called on the Chief Minister to demand the revival of commercial activity and restoration of basic civic amenities in the area. The CM assured the delegation that the matter would be looked into with due priority.
The Chief Minister also met senior political leader and former Minister Sajjad Ahmed Kitchloo, who apprised him of developmental priorities and emerging needs in the Chenab Valley, with particular focus on road connectivity, youth employment, and healthcare access.
In addition to organized delegations, scores of individuals from different districts also interacted with the Chief Minister, sharing a range of personal and public concerns.
CM Omar Abdullah gave a patient hearing to all visiting delegations and individuals, and assured that the issues raised would be taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate resolution | Kashmir Pen
