New Delhi, March 13: A condolence meeting was held by the Department of Urdu at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, to mourn the demise of eminent fiction writer Jeelani Bano.

Expressing deep grief over her passing, the Head of the Department, Professor Kausar Mazhari, said that Jeelani Bano was among the last surviving representatives of the older generation of writers. He noted that her association with literature was not merely formal but deeply existential, reflecting a lifelong commitment to the world of letters.

The gathering remembered her significant contributions to Urdu fiction and paid tribute to her literary legacy.
