Senior Congress leader and former finance minister Tariq Karra has been accepted as a private respondent by the Supreme Court in the Article 35A case, the hearing of which was deferred today.
Karra had moved an application before Supreme Court to empanel him as a private party in the Article 35A case, said a report.
“Yes, the plea has been accepted by the Honourable Supreme Court and I have been accepted as a private party into the case,” Karra told KNS news agency.
Earlier in the day, the apex court agreed to hear after Diwali pleas challenging Article 35 A, relating to special rights and privileges of permanent residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
A bench headed by Justice J S Khehar accepted the plea of the Jammu and Kashmir state government that the pleas challenging Article 35 A be heard after Diwali.
