Shopian, Sep 23 : After 10 years, building of a vital animal husbandry centre in upper belt of Shopian is incomplete causing inconvenience to people.
Locals from Zawoora village of Shopian told news agency— that authorities after repeated requests started construction of the Veterinary Centre in 2012 but since then they are waiting for its completion.
Shakeel Khan, a local, said that the under-construction building was abandoned by the concerned authorities.
He said that one storey of the centre was completed in 2013 and then work stopped only to be started again for construction of second storey two years ago. Since then, it remains abandoned again.
In the village, people rear livestock but the absence of the facility causes them problems. Even for minor issues, they have to cover long distances along with livestock to reach the Shopian veterinary facility.
They said that currently the centre is functioning out of a rented building but due to space crunch no facilities are available there.
They requested authorities to look into the matter and complete the centre at the earliest so that locals can have a sigh of relief.
Officials in the Animal husbandry department said that they have repeatedly asked the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department to complete the building.
But an official from the R & B department blamed paucity of funds for the delay saying they are expecting funds from the government soon to complete the pending works
