Handwara, Feb 23 : Despite having completed all of the procedures for receiving old age pension, thousands of people are deprived of the benefits of a centrally sponsored scheme in Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
In December last year, according to an order old age pensioners were asked to submit their forms online. But despite doing it online, they are still not getting the pension.
Thousands of people have received scheme benefits at the Social Welfare Department, Handwara, according to sources in the department, with some having submitted the online forms and a large number having yet to do so.
An elderly man from the Mawer Audoora said he had submitted his documents online a month ago, but he is yet to avail the benefits of the scheme, while others who have yet to submit their documents are getting their old age pension on a regular basis.
Meanwhile, the pensioners urged the administration to look into the matter and direct the concerned department to release the pension who have completed all the procedures.
An official from the department, who requested anonymity said it is an online process and there are no chances of anything going wrong.
He said he would still discuss the matter with his subordinates.
