Director Horticulture takes stock of developmental activities in Kupwara

Director Horticulture Kashmir, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat today took stock of developmental activities including high density plantation, production of grafted walnut plants and other developmental activities in district Kupwara.

On the occasion, the Director stressed upon all officers for achieving the earmarked targets besides directing them to develop all public sector nurseries on modern lines.

He said the main focus of the department shall be production of true to type plant material and grafted walnut plants to meet the requirements of growers in the field.

Instructions were passed on to the officers to remain punctual in performing the duties and maintain a close liaison with the orchardists so that they get timely technical knowhow in the field of Horticulture.

Meanwhile Director Horticulture inspected base station Chogul and took stock of plantation, newly constructed Horticulture building and other developmental works.

Chief Horticulture officer Kupwara was directed to ensure functioning of soil testing Laboratory as early as possible so that the soil testing facility of orchards in the area is provided to the farming community.

Regarding celebration of Kisan Pakhwada from 7th of July 2020 to 21th of July 2020, the concerned were instructed to organize the Kisan Mela’s during the Pakhwada and maintain close liaison with the allied departments along with lead bank Manager for successful conduct of the programme while strictly following the COVID-19 SOP’s.

The Director during the visit was accompanied by Chief Horticulture officer Kupwara and team of officers.
