Srinagar, Jan 26: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), where Director SKIMS and EOSG, Prof. M. Ashraf Ganie, unfurled the National Flag during an impressive समारोह organised by the Estates Department.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Ashraf highlighted key milestones and achievements of the institute across various fronts. He said that the spirit of service at SKIMS is deeply rooted in the constitutional ideals envisioned by the Father of the Indian Constitution, and despite operational challenges, the institute continues on a strong path of growth and excellence.
Acknowledging the collective efforts of employees across all cadres, the Director said the progress of SKIMS is a shared journey, with staff working “shoulder to shoulder.” He described SKIMS as a mentor institution, recognised for quality research, advanced clinical care, and institutional accountability.
Prof. Ashraf noted that SKIMS’ work has received appreciation from the public, policymakers, and government authorities, including the Lieutenant Governor and the Chief Minister. He also referred to national-level recognition reflected during the recent AI Summit, which saw the participation of Dr. V.K. Paul, Member, NITI Aayog.
Highlighting ongoing institutional development, he said several initiatives have been taken up on a fast-track basis, including the expansion of specialised medical services, upgradation of emergency care facilities, employee promotions, and filling of referred posts through recruiting agencies. He added that further strengthening of human resources and essential services is expected in the near future.
The ceremonial parade was jointly led by SKIMS Security, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and CRPF personnel. Adding cultural colour to the celebrations, students of IDPS School, Budgam, presented a traditional Kashmiri Rouf performance.
