The senior BJP Leader Basit Hayat Zargar extended his heartiest greetings to the fellow Countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Shab-E Baraat, also known as the ‘Night of Forgiveness’.
Shab-e-Barat is a significant festival observed on the 14th and 15th night of Sha’aban, the eighth month in the Islamic calendar. This year, the celebrations will take place from March 7 to 8 and people will visit the mosques and shrines for special prayers as the night of Barat is a special occasion for seeking almighty’s mercy. It is widely believed that this is a holy night when Allah is more forgiving and that sincere prayers can help wash away their sins. The night is also used to seek mercy for deceased and ill family members, and it is believed that Allah decides people’s fortune for the year ahead, their sustenance, and whether they will have the opportunity to perform Hajj (pilgrimage).
In his message, Basit Hayat Zargar said “ Shab -e-Baraat is an occasion for people to seek almighty’s mercy and pray for peace and well-being of the entire humanity. Let us pray for peace and prosperity in our society and hope that this occasion reinforces the faith in harmony among us” .He added that people should take this occasion as an opportunity to make endeavours for establishing harmony, compassion, forgiveness and peace in the Country and Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir in particular.
Shab-e-Barat holds diverse ways of celebration and unique traditions, all around the world. The celebrations include preparation of delicious sweets like Halwa, Zarda, and other delicacies to distribute among neighbors, relatives, family members, and the poor. Many visit the graves of their loved ones to pray for eternal peace for their souls. Some also observe a fast on Shab-e-Barat. The prayer session is one of the main highlights of the night, with people seeking forgiveness and making sincere prayers.
