Hizb-ul-Mujahideen commander Riyaz Naikoo has told its members to pour acid into the eyes of the people who participate in the poll exercise, a media report said today.
Quoting from an audio clip supposed to be a leaked conversation between Hizb’s Operational Commander Riyaz Naikoo and another militant Sameer Tiger, Hindustan Times said that the militants have threatened to blind the people who participate in the poll process.
“You saw in 2016 how many youth lost their eyesight,” the person believed to be Naikoo was heard as saying, mentioned the report. “That is why we have planned…whosoever fights elections, he will be dragged out of his home and concentrated acid – sulphuric or hydrochloric – will be poured into his eyes so that he loses his eyesight and becomes a burden for his families for life,” said the report.
In the clip, which has been widely circulated on the social media, the militants can he heard saying about “futility” of killing of those who participated in the previous elections
“For the past 28 years, we have been threatening those [participating in elections], but nothing has happened. You saw in the last elections how many were killed – some by agencies and some by us, but what was the result? They were benefitted (alluding to families of the deceased getting compensation from the government).”
Panchayat election which were due in Jammu and Kashmir last year but couldn’t held due to volatile situation have been planned from February 15.
