Ganderbal, Dec 26 (KNO): During the last four months, Cyber Police Station Ganderbal has recovered 46 missing mobile phones worth lakhs of rupees, officials told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) on Friday.

They said that Cyber Cell Ganderbal received multiple complaints from the general public through the CEIR Portal and other police units regarding missing and lost mobile phones. “Acting on these complaints and under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, special teams were constituted to trace the devices,” the officials added.

“After sustained technical analysis and field efforts, the teams successfully recovered the missing phones from various locations. The recovered mobile phones were formally handed over to their rightful owners by the SSP Ganderbal, in the presence of DySP Headquarters Ganderbal, after completing all legal formalities,” they said.

Locals who received their phones expressed gratitude to the police. “We had almost lost hope of getting our devices back, but the Cyber Police worked tirelessly and recovered them. We are thankful to Ganderbal Police for this effort,” said one of the beneficiaries.

Adil Ahmad said the initiative has boosted public confidence. “This shows that police are serious about addressing public grievances. Recovering so many mobile phones in a short time is commendable,” he said.

Meanwhile, a Police spokesman said the recovery reflects the commitment of Ganderbal Police to redress public grievances and tackle cyber-enabled crimes through effective use of technology and coordinated policing.

The Cyber Police Station Ganderbal advised the public to remain cautious while using mobile phones and electronic gadgets to protect themselves from cyber frauds. “Citizens should immediately report any cybercrime on the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal and also approach Cyber Police Station Ganderbal without delay,” it added.
