The Jammu and Kashmir government today admitted that some newly created administrative units were still non-functional.

Replying to a question by legislator Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen in the state Assembly, Minister for Revenue, Abdul Rehman Veeri informed the House that some of the newly created administrative units were functioning satisfactorily but others could not be operationalized due to financial and other reasons.

Veeri also said that the recommendation of an expert committee headed by Khursheed Ahmad Ganie for creation of a ‘tehsil’ (sub division) at Arizal was not accepted by the state Cabinet which decided to create a tehsil at Waterhail instead.

Replying to a supplementary question by legislator Mubarak Gul on adequate infrastructure for the new tehsils in his constituency, the minister said the government will look into the issue.( PTI)
