The Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir celebrated the Constitution Day today to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November, 1949.

The celebration began with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha leading the senior officers to read the Preamble to the Constitution of India.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor wrote: “Greetings on Constitution Day. Tributes to the makers of our Constitution. On this momentous occasion, I call upon all to uphold the sanctity of constitution & further strengthen principles of social justice, equality and let’s devote ourselves to peace & progress of the society”.

Earlier the govt said, “Considering the significance of the completion of 75 years of adoption of the constitution, it has been decided to celebrate the event with great fervour and enthusiasm to reiterate the core values enshrined in the constitution of India and motivate citizens to take their rightful role in the campaign tagline This year holds special significance as it commemorates 75 years of the “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan.”

All government offices, autonomous bodies, PSUs, and educational institutions across Jammu and Kashmir will hold similar ceremonies.
