Srinagar, Aug 25 : The Jammu and Kashmir State Cooperative bank has launched RuPay Kisan Credit Cards for its customers.
A high level meeting, presided over by the managing director Muhammad Lateif Dar, was held at the corporate office of the bank and the operational and technical heads were directed to achieve hundred percent coverage by September 15th.
Stressing on the need to propagate cashless –banking products, Lateif held that RuPay Credit Cards are a tool to empower farmers. Farmers will now be able to make farm related purchases directly from dealers in cashless mode, thus making their transactions easy and risk free.
A team of officers was constituted who will launch aggressive awareness cum training campaigns among rural masses to educate farmers about the various aspects of card usage.
Lateif directed the concerned officers to hold live demonstrations particularly for illiterate farmers and ensure that they are made fully aware of the technical, financial and operational aspects of the card usage. He directed Financial and Digital Literacy centre of the bank to hold door to door campaigns and educate the farmers about the precautions to be taken to avoid risks and frauds involved in card usage.
Pertinently, implementation of RuPay KCC has been major initiative pushed by government under the supervision of NABARD and is part of the plan to double farmers` income by 2020. Lateif expressed his gratitude towards Regional Office NABARD for its support and guidance in the implementation of the RuPay KCC project.
