Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik was detained on Wednesday in Srinagar, summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Sources said a posse of policemen arrived at the Abi Guzar office of Malik and took him into custody.
They said Malik was later shifted to Srinagar Central Jail.

Malik’s arrest comes just hours after the house arrest of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.
Reports said that several leaders of Hurriyat (G) were also detained.
