The 40-day long period of harsh winter called the ‘Chillai Kalan’ would also end on Tuesday.
Kargil at minus 15 continued to be the coldest town in Jammu and Kasmir, followed by Leh at minus 11.9 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperatures also improved in the Jammu region due to light rain and nightlong cloud cover.
Jammu city recorded 8.6, Katra 10, Batote 7.7, Bannihal 5.2, Bhaderwah 4.9 and Udhampur 8.5 as the minimum temperatures. ( IANS )
