Srinagar, March 1: Senior religious leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Sunday expressed deep sorrow and anger over the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, allegedly in strikes carried out by the United States and Israel, stating that the development has “shaken the Muslim world.”
In a statement, the Mirwaiz said the people of Jammu and Kashmir collectively condemn what he described as brutality and ongoing aggression against Iran. He also condemned the reported killing of innocent girl students in Minab, terming the incident “heart-rending and unacceptable.”
Calling it a moment of immense grief for the global Muslim community, he said, “Our hearts beat with the resilient people of Iran. May Allah grant strength to the oppressed, elevate the martyrs, and bring swift justice to those responsible.”
The Mirwaiz urged unity within the Ummah, appealing to people to rise above divisions and express solidarity against the killing and the continued escalation in the region.
Meanwhile, the Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulama (MMU) has called for a complete strike on Monday. The Mirwaiz appealed to the public to observe the shutdown with unity, dignity, and in a completely peaceful manner.
