PDP MP Nazir Ahmad Laway, who suffered ‘expulsion’ for attending LG’s swearing-in, has ambitions to launch his very own party.
“Parties come and go, what remains is that one should be able to address the issues that the public is facing,” Laway said.
“The process is on for taking on board like-minded people and try to address the issues that people are facing,” he said.
Laway has claimed that large numbers of people were in touch with him to float a new party to solve day to day problems of the people.
He said that formation of new party was must to address grievances of the people.
Laway is a prominent face of party in south Kashmir. After abrogation of Article 370 on August 5, 2019, Mehbooba Mufti had directed both the Rajya Sabha members namely Nazir Ahmed Laway and Fayaz Ahmed Mir to quit the Upper House of the Parliament but both had refused.
Instead of following directions of Mehbooba Mufti, both the Rajya Sabha members were regularly attending proceedings of the House despite the fact that they had created commotion in the Rajya Sabha when Article 370 was abrogated and J&K was bifurcated into two Union Territories (UTs).
All the four Rajya Sabha members namely Ghulam Nabi Azad of Congress, Nazir Ahmed Laway and Fayaz Ahmed Mir of PDP and Shamsher Singh of BJP are going to retire in the month of March 2021.
