Mir visits Warpora Pattan to condole with Zahida’s bereaved family

Asks people to get into ‘mission mode’ to eradicate domestic violence from society.

Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir has said that no civilized society can tolerate crimes against women. He termed the recent incident of domestic violence — in which of Zahida Bano from Warpora Pattan of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, lost her life — as a ‘grave crime’. Pertinently, 29-year-old Zahida was allegedly beaten up ruthlessly be her husband on Friday, after that she was admitted at ICU SKIMS Soura where she breathed her last on Monday morning.

Mir, who visited the bereaved family today, expressed his grief and sorrow over the death of the young woman and condoled her bereaved relatives. He said, since police has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the crime, we hope this investigation would be prompt and thorough, so that an exemplary action could be taken against the culprit. Mir also talked to the local people and asked them to get in to ‘mission mode’ to ensure no such crime occurs in our society in future.

He said, “Each one of us ought to play his or her role to ensure crimes like domestic violence are eradicated from the society.” He said that the incident is a slur on our social fabric. No civilised society can tolerate such horrific incident. Mir said that the growing incidences of domestic violence in the Valley indicate that something is terribly wrong in our society; thus, everybody is ought to play a role to ensure no woman suffers like Zahida did. He added, “We should not forget this horrific incident of domestic violence, rather we must pledge that we will not let any such incident happen in future.”
