Kashmir-based medico cum noted columnist Dr Tasaduk Hussain Itoo on the occasion of International Nurses Day 2024 — celebrated every year on 12th May — said that nurses play a very crucial and important role in patient care and management and form a backbone in medical healthcare system.
He said that the theme for this year’s Nurse’s Day as suggested by International Nurses Council – is titled “Our Nurses. Our Future – The economic power of care” owing to their bright future in revolutionizing healthcare. Besides that, it aims to reshape perceptions, demonstrating how strategic investment in nursing can bring considerable economic and societal benefits.
Dr Itoo said that nurses behave motherly in ensuring care, concern, compassion and treatment towards patients, and we doctors stand nowhere without their presence — they form an important connecting link between doctors and patients.
Dr Itoo further said that nurses always stood at frontline and had played a pivotal role in managing the struggling period of Covid-19 crisis.
“Let us pay due regards and respect to all nurses around the world for their immense role in patient care and management; and salute them by acknowledging and appreciating their work they are doing in service to humanity”, he added.
