Chairman Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen on Saturday appealed government to release all political leaders detained either in jails or houses so that they could practice their religious obligations together with their families during the ensuing sacred month of Ramadhan. He also called for release of other detainees lodged in and outside UT jails on humanitarian grounds.
PDF Chairman said in view of the ensuing sacred month of Ramadan, the central and state governments should, as a goodwill gesture, release all the political leaders who are still under house arrest. He said in view of the Corona virus outbreak, government should also release all such prisoners from jails, who are not involved in serious offences.
PDF Chairman said Ramadan is the month of repentance and seeking forgiveness from the Almighty adding that Government should facilitate reunion of maximum number of detainees with their families during this month, on humanitarian grounds.
He urged upon Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir GC Murmu to device a viable roadmap for gradual evacuation of Kashmiri laborers, students, fruit traders and shawl vendors stuck in different states due to countrywide lockdown.
“UP has already initiated the process to evacuate their students from Kota – coaching hub of Rajasthan”, Hakeem said while urging the government to take a clue and evacuate it’s stranded students from there. He said the stranded people in parts of country are in a miserable condition as nothing is left in their pockets now. He said government was duty-bound to come to the rescue of its people at this crucial stage and device a viable roadmap to bring them back to Valley while maintaining the due protocol of the lockdown and social distancing.
He asked government to sanction special incentives for the frontline warriors especially doctors, paramedics, sanitation staff and police personnel, fighting dreaded Corona virus pandemic as a mark of recognition of their dedicated duties.
