Rafiq Raz’s Intellectual and Creative Artistry Lauded

In-depth discussion held on the literary and thematic aspects of the book

Srinagar, December 15, 2025: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organised a dignified and memorable literary event at the Conference Hall, Tagore Hall, as part of its ongoing efforts to promote and disseminate Urdu literature.

The occasion marked the formal release of the poetry collection “Inshirah” by renowned poet Rafiq Raz.

A large gathering of eminent writers, critics, intellectuals, and literature enthusiasts attended the event.

The programme was presided over by noted writer and literary critic Prof. Majrooh Rashid, whose insightful address added scholarly depth to the proceedings.

Eminent writer and journalist Javed Azar attended the function as the Guest of Honour, further enhancing the significance of the literary gathering.

Reflections on Rafiq Raz’s poetic journey were shared by Prof. Nasir Mirza, Dr. Mushtaq Ganai, and Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, who appreciated the poet’s contribution to Urdu literature.

In his presidential address, Professor Majrooh Rashid described Rafiq Raz’s poetry as a mirror of intellectual maturity and creative authenticity. He observed that “Inshirah” compels readers to reflect deeply and serves as a true expression of the poet’s inner world.

Speaking on the occasion, Rafiq Raz expressed his gratitude to the organisers, distinguished guests, and audience, and shared insights into his creative vision and the background of the book.

Among those present at the event were Mohammad Yousuf Shaheen, Pervaiz Manoos, Ghulam Nabi Shahid, Rehana Shajar, Dr. Rakesh Talib, Dr. Younis Dar, Imdad Saqi, Ashraf Adil, Bashir Hayil, Nasir Mirza, Dr. Mushtaq Ganai, Liaqat Abbas, Bashir Chiragh, Dr. Mubarak Lone, Shakeel-ur-Rahman, Faahi Kashmiri, and Nazim Nazeer, among others.

The audience hailed the programme as highly successful and memorable, terming it an important step towards the promotion of Urdu literature.

The event was gracefully conducted by Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Lone, whose effective moderation ensured a well organised and engaging programme.

The vote of thanks was presented by Mohammad Saleem Salik, Editor of Sheeraza Urdu. The programme was successfully coordinated through the efforts of Programme In-charge Saleem Sagar.
