As part of its ongoing efforts to curb the rising instances of fraud and to prevent misuse of mobile phone SIMs, Police in Ganderbal today launched a verification drive on SIM card vendors in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gund.

The drive aims to verify the authenticity of documents submitted by subscribers and to ensure that SIM vendors are adhering to the guidelines set by the government and to ensure that their SIM connections are verified. Further, POS venders were directed to maintain proper data and SIM cards must be issued only after proper verification of the antecedents of subscribers.
