Police Solve Fatal Hit-and-Run Case in Two Hours In Kulgam

Srinagar, 01 Dec (GNS): Police on Monday said that it have successfully solved a fatal hit-and-run case within two hours of the incident.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that earlier today, a road accident occurred at Nipora, Mirbazar, in which Ab. Ahad Khanday S/o Ab. Khaliq Khanday, aged 87 years and resident of Nipora Mirbazar, was hit by an unknown vehicle while crossing the road. The injured was shifted to GMC Anantnag, where he was declared brought dead.

Acting swiftly, Kulgam Police obtained and analysed CCTV footage, through which the vehicle involved was identified as a white Mahindra Bolero bearing registration No. JK03L-9171. The said vehicle was subsequently seized.

The driver involved in the accident has been identified as Sheikh Burhan Tariq S/o Tariq Ahmad Sheikh, resident of Qazigund, aged 21 years .Further legal proceedings under relevant sections of law are underway.

Kulgam Police reiterate their commitment to ensuring public safety and maintaining the rule of law.

Investigation is in progress, reads the statement.(GNS)
