In Larno Kokernag, the Department of Consumer Affairs and Distribution has issued APL ration cards to many families living below the poverty line, depriving them of free rations which effects their daily livelihood. The government has taken steps to provide free rations for three months to alleviate the plight of poor families.
Many beneficiaries living in Mathandu Gawran area in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district while speaking with media persons said that they are laborers by profession and hailing from upper belt of Larnoo area, due to the lockdown, their financial condition has deteriorated and they are deprived of getting free rations. In 2015 The department enlisted them in the APL category without looking at the domestic situation, although they approached many times to authorities for applying to review and requested to enlist names on below poverty line and AAY we apply several times to the department on which the department also assured but to date no relief has been forthcoming, due to which they have to buy rations at exorbitant prices a local added.
However, there was no scope to amend the list at present. They was assured that a new survey order would be issued by the government and all the beneficiaries would be included in the BPL category but nothing was done till date.
Now we appeal to district administration look into the matter we face immense problems direct concerned authorities that all the beneficiaries would be included in the BPL list so that we people take advantage of various schemes in future provided by central Government.
