President and COO Mr. Jagannath Sahu SBI Foundation inaugurates two ‘SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels’ at Boniyar, Baramulla to deliver primary healthcare at the doorsteps of underserved communities of districts Kupwara and Baramulla under SBI’s “Jivanam” health vertical”.
Boniyar, Baramulla (J&K) | November 30, 2025 – In a significant step towards strengthening access to primary healthcare in remote and underserved areas of North Kashmir, SBI Foundation today inaugurated the SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels at Boniyar, near Children’s Park, Baramulla. The flagship mobile healthcare initiative, implemented by ELFA International under SBI Foundation’s Healthcare Vertical, Jivanam will cater to the healthcare needs of vulnerable populations across Baramulla and Kupwara districts, ensuring medical services reach communities that remain geographically and economically marginalized.
The inaugural ceremony commenced at with the formal welcome of Shri Jagannath Sahoo, President & COO, SBI Foundation, by Mr. Nawab Mehran Khan, CEO, ELFA International, who acknowledged the vital transformative potential of the initiative in bridging healthcare gaps in border and rural pockets. In his opening remarks, Mr. Khan highlighted ELFA International’s longstanding commitment to delivering inclusive and community-driven health interventions, emphasizing that the Clinic on Wheels will act as a lifeline for populations with limited access to hospitals and specialized care facilities.
This was followed by the felicitation of an esteemed gathering of dignitaries representing the administration, healthcare sector, civil society, and local leadership. The event witnessed the presence of the, SHO Uri,, community representatives, healthcare professionals, scholars, and prominent members of the local community, symbolizing a collective resolve to prioritize community health and wellbeing.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Jagannath Sahoo reiterated SBI Foundation’s vision of taking healthcare beyond conventional infrastructure and directly into the heart of vulnerable regions through scalable and sustainable models. He emphasized that SBI Sanjeevani is not merely a mobile medical unit but a comprehensive approach to preventive, proactive, and curative healthcare, aimed at improving health outcomes and promoting dignity among underserved populations. During his speech he appreciated the commendable work done by ELFA International deeming ELFA International as one of the best NGOs in the country and said that SBI Foundation takes pride in collaborating with the ELFA International.
A key highlight of the event was the release of the Health Profiling Report of districts Baramulla and Kupwara, which presented evidence-based insights into the prevailing health indicators, disease patterns, and healthcare needs of the region. The report will serve as a strategic tool for targeted interventions, resource allocation, and improved healthcare planning in the two districts.
The event also featured experience sharing by local beneficiaries who narrated first-hand accounts of the challenges faced in accessing timely medical care and expressed hope that the SBI Sanjeevani Clinic on Wheels will significantly reduce travel burdens, treatment delays, and out-of-pocket expenses for poor and vulnerable households.
In a ceremonial gesture symbolizing the operational handover, a replica key of the clinic vehicle was presented to Mr. Nawab Mehran Khan by Shri Jagannath Sahoo in the presence of dignitaries, followed by the much-awaited flag-off of the SBI Sanjeevani – Clinic on Wheels, marking the formal commencement of its services in the region.
The mobile clinic is equipped with essential diagnostic tools, medicines, and trained medical personnel to provide primary healthcare services including general consultations, basic diagnostics, maternal and child health care, awareness on hygiene and nutrition, and referral linkages for advanced treatment. The initiative aims to significantly enhance healthcare outreach, reduce disease burden, and foster a culture of preventive healthcare in far-flung border areas of districts Baramulla and Kupwara (J&K).
Through this collaborative effort, SBI Foundation and ELFA International reaffirm their commitment to equitable healthcare access and inclusive development, ensuring that no community is left behind in the pursuit of health, dignity, and well-being.
