The number of COVID-19 positive cases in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district went up to 132 Tuesday after two more patients including a six year old boy turned positive for the deadly virus. An official told news agency, that two patients have been found positive in Bandipora and one of them is six-year-old boy from Naidkhai and another one is middle-aged man from Gund-Qaiser.
He said that both the patients had come in contact with a person who had tested positive earlier. The number of active cases in the district now stands at 69, with 62 patients having been discharged after recovery and one person dying. With 132 positive cases, Bandipora has registered the highest number of cases in the UT so far. Extensive Covid Health Audit is underway in the district by Booth Area level Group (BAG) Team using Swasthya Nidhi Mobile Application. Till 5:30 pm, 333919 persons of 59196 House Holds were screened.
In the District 3012 cases were sampled out of which 132 cases have been found positive, 2424 cases as negative and rest of the reports are yet to be received. Among 132 positive cases, 62 have recovered. The administration has ramped up testing in Gund-Jahangeer and other parts of the red zone areas.
Most cases in Bandipora come from three red-zones – Hajin, and Gund Jahagir. “Over that 25000 people are screened so far we are collecting more samples,” Nodal officer for Covid-19 at Sumbal, Shahnawaz Bukhari told. The administration also said over 4183 people who came in contact with COVID-19 suspected cases have been put under surveillance To date, around 4671 people have been put under surveillance, including 399 people in Admin quarantine, 69 in hospital isolation an official bulletin said.
Besides, 5994 persons have completed their surveillance period of 28 days, it said. More than 500 samples were tested in Hajin during the past few days. A special drive for testing began in the block on last week after 46 cases were detected, in Gund-Jahangeer making it a hotspot.
