Srinagar, Dec 29 : In a bid to attract more visitors during the winter season, Director Tourism Kashmir, Peerzada Qamar Sajad, on Monday said that the Department of Tourism is organising a seven-day winter carnival in Gulmarg along with a series of other activities across the Valley.
Speaking to Kashmir News Service (KNS), the Director said that a fresh spell of snowfall has resulted in a significant increase in tourist arrivals, adding that various winter games and recreational activities have already begun at key tourist destinations.
“To further strengthen our efforts and promote winter tourism, we will be organising a seven-day winter carnival in Gulmarg,” he said, adding that the event aims to showcase Kashmir as a vibrant winter destination for visitors from across the country.

Highlighting another major initiative, Peerzada said the department has also planned a special event titled ‘Jashn-e-Vandi’ to celebrate the recent snowfall and the positive tourism trend. “Through this event, we want to bring together tourists and stakeholders and showcase the scenic beauty of Dal Lake and surrounding gardens, while conveying a message of peace and beauty,” he said.
He further appealed to people across the country to visit the Valley. “My message to everyone is to come to Kashmir, enjoy its serenity, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality,” he added.(KNS)
