Two gamblers held in Baramulla, stake money seized: Police

Acting tough against social crimes, Police in Baramulla have arrested 02 gamblers and seized stake money from their possession.

A Police Spokesman said that acting on specific information about gambling activities at Ferozpora Nallah Tangmarg, a police party led by SHO PS Tangmarg raided the specific site and arrested 02 gamblers on the spot. They have been identified as Ab Rasheed Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat resident of Pandithpora Bala and Showkat Ahmad Haji son of Gh Mohd Haji resident of Bongam Kunzer. However, another person managed to flee from the spot leaving behind mobile phone and keys of his personal car. Efforts are on to nab him.

“Officers have seized stake money of Rs20,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tangmarg and investigation has been taken up”, he said
