The Department of Wildlife Protection has informed the public that migratory birds from various regions have begun arriving at the wetlands of Kashmir.

These birds will inhabit and move between the wetlands during the winter season.

To ensure the protection of these migratory birds, the Department of Wildlife Protection has set forth specific guidelines.

The department has been tasked with safeguarding the birds and their habitats. However, there have been concerns about some individuals attempting to harm the birds or disturb their habitats.

“No one shall be allowed to enter the wetlands without prior permission,” the department said, adding that individuals wishing to engage in bird watching must obtain proper authorization.

This will help the department identify legitimate visitors.

“Anyone found entering the wetlands without permission will be in violation of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and will face legal action under its provisions,” the department said.

The department has called for public cooperation to ensure a safe environment for the migratory birds during their stay in Kashmir.

Notably, thousands of migratory birds have arrived at the wetlands of Kashmir, marking the beginning of their seasonal visit.(KNS).
