Advisor Baseer Ahmad Khan on Friday visited quarantine cum screening centre at Zig Qazigund and took stock of the situation. He directed officials to act tough against lockdown violators thereby to prevent spread of virus in the community.

Advisor Khan reviewed arrangements put in place at quarantine cum screening centre here. He was on way from Jammu to Srinagar. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Bashir Ahmad Dar, ADC Anantnag Ghulam Hassan Sheikh, SDM Dooru Ghulam Rasool Wani, CMO Dr Fazil Kochak and other civil and police officers were present at the occasion.

Khan said I directed DC Anantnag to act tough against violators who are risking not only their lives while violating lockdown orders but putting entire community in danger”. He reiterated his appeal to people and asked them to stay away from any congestion and maintain social distance.

“I appeal to people of Jammu and Kashmir to stay away from any public gathering. Stay away and maintain social distancing to keep Covid-19 pandemic away”, he said.

Advisor Khan directed DC Anantnag, at the occasion, to conduct fast track enquiry over a matter in which a person fled from Kokernag quarantine centre after spending four days. He said it is a serious matter for administration and we have taken a strong cognizance of it. “I directed Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag to conduct an enquiry into the matter and submit a report within a week so that officials responsible for dereliction of duties will be taken to task”, he told.

Khan added that I gave a strong message to people when I visited here last time. “I made an appeal to people to maintain social distance and directed them to act upon the medical advisories. Besides directed people to don’t make congestion at Banks, ATM’s, Ration Depots and other needful spots, I asked them there is no need to go panic, administration will provide you each and every thing at your door step”, Khan said.

He also added that people should assist civil and police administration while acting upon advisories in letter and spirit and maintained that civil and police administration is working in coordination and synergy. He further added that people should also behave maturely and should follow guidelines in wake of current situation strictly.

“Each and every person of society is duty bound to safeguard the lives of entire community at this juncture. A little mistake from general public will prove a catastrophic blunder, if advisories are ignored”, Khan said.

“One who violates advisories is not sowing problem for himself only but for the whole community. These people need to be identified and isolated”, he directed officials.

He told that administration is fully alert to deal with eventualities. “In red zone areas we will ensure door to door screening and testing and no person will be left out”.
