The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, New Delhi Wednesday seized 10.092 kg of gold coins, valued at Rs 7.8 crore, from two male passengers hailing from Kashmir
As per the statement issued here, In a swift operation based on specific intelligence, the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs, intercepted two male passengers (aged 45,43 years) belonging to Kashmir, arriving from Milan via Flight AI-138 on 05.02.2025.
During discreet surveillance and profiling, suspicious behavior was observed, leading to the interception of both individuals at the Green Channel.
While baggage scans revealed nothing unusual, a personal search triggered by DFMD alerts led to the discovery of:
2 specially designed waist belts, concealed with gold coins wrapped in plastic envelopes. Total seizure: 10.092 kg of gold, valued at approximately ₹7.8 Crores!
The passengers have been detained for further investigation under the Customs Act, 1962.
