“On the orders of the executive magistrate, 12 people were taken into preventive custody from Thanamandi, Budhal and Kandi, and lodged at district jail,” the official said.

Yesterday, the police had arrested 16 people, while 30 others were taken into preventive custody a few months ago, Manhas said.

“Some notorious criminals and drug peddlers are being detained under Public Safety Act (PSA),” the SSP said and reiterated the police’s commitment to end drug peddling in the district and taking stern action against those involved.
