Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police in Kulgam have arrested 02 drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
A police party headed by In-charge Police Post Mirbazar during patrolling at village Nipora intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK03B-5292 with 02 persons onboard.
During search, officers were able to recover 7.3 Kgs of Poppy Straw like contraband substance concealed in a nylon bag. They have been identified as Shafat Ahmad Khanday son of Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday resident of Damjan and Jora Singh son of Darshan Singh resident of Dholan Ludhiana, Punjab. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in commission of crime has also been seized.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 202/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddling in their neighbourhood.
Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
