Srinagar, June 10,: Jammu and Kashmir Minister for Youth Services and Sports, ARI and Trainings, Science and Technology, and Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Satish Sharma, on Wednesday congratulated 223 sportspersons who have been selected for government jobs under the Sports Quota in the Union Territory.
Sharma according to news agency, expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his support in facilitating the recruitment process and said the appointment orders would be formally handed over to the selected candidates by the Chief Minister.
Describing the development as a significant milestone in the lives of the athletes, the minister said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to recognising sporting excellence and creating meaningful career opportunities for young achievers.
He said the government is working to strengthen support systems for athletes and connect the youth of Jammu and Kashmir with wider national and international sporting platforms so that sports emerge not only as a field of distinction but also as a viable professional career.
Sharma also urged students and young aspirants across the Union Territory to view sports as more than just recreation, calling it a pathway to character-building, opportunity and nation-building.
He said the success of the 223 selected sportspersons should serve as an inspiration for young talents across Jammu and Kashmir striving to make their mark in various sporting disciplines.
