It’s distressing to hear about the significant number of crimes against women reported in Srinagar district over the past few years. These figures shed light on the pressing issue of women’s safety and the need for concerted efforts to address and prevent such crimes.

Efforts like filing RTI applications to gather official data and the activism of individuals like M M Shuja play a crucial role in bringing attention to these issues. However, it’s evident that more comprehensive measures are required to ensure the safety and security of women in the region.

These measures could include improved law enforcement strategies, community education and awareness campaigns, support services for victims, and initiatives aimed at addressing the root causes of violence against women.

Addressing crimes against women requires a multi-faceted approach involving various stakeholders, including government authorities, civil society organizations, and the community at large. Only through coordinated efforts can meaningful progress be made in creating safer environments for women.
