A 35-year-old man was found dead inside a Pond near railway track in Suransoo—Shamsipora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday, officials said.

An official told the news agency that some locals spotted the body inside a water filled pond in Suransoo—Shamsipora and they immediately informed the police about it.

He said that the police team reached the spot and recovered the body. He identified the deceased as Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh, son of Bilal Ahmad Sheikh of Lasjan Srinagar, adding that the deceased according to the reports was mentally unsound.

The official said that the proceedings under 174 CrPc have been initiated and further investigations has also been taken up to ascertain the actual cause of death—(KNO)
