A 40-year-old woman drowned to death in Nallah Veshaw at Nagam area of Damhal Hanjipora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district last evening.

Sources said that the woman identified as Shamima Banoo, wife of Bashir Ahmad Lone from Nagam was crossing the bridge when she slipped into the Nallah Veshaw.

The locals tried to rescue her, but couldn’t save her life due to the fast flowing river, they said.

A police office also confirmed the death of the woman due to drowning. (KNO)
