5 Days’ Bharat Rang Mahotsav (BRM) International Theatre Festival  organized by National School of Drama (NSD) ,  culminated in Srinagar

SRINAGAR ,Feb.20,2024 : After a successful run for the past 4 days,  Bharat Rang Mahotsav  International Theatre Festival  organized by  National School of Drama, Delhi in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages drew to a colourful culmination here on 5th day today in Srinagar.

The festival was culminated in Srinagar with the play THE GLOBAL CITY staged by Italian Theatre Group. “The Global City”, written by Nicola Pianzola & directed by Anna Dora Dorno is inspired by Italo Calvino’s novel “Invisible Cities”, is a metamorphic spectacle in which micro-stories collected by Instabili Vaganti in the major cities of the planet are artistically recomposed on stage, depicting a city of memory, dystopia, and virtuality.

The closing ceremony was held at Tagore Hall, Srinagar where Prof. Deeba Sarmad, Dean, Cluster University, Srinagar was invited as Chief Guest and Ms. Mantasha Bint Rasheed, Dy. Director Tourism & Mufti Shafeeq-Ur-Rehman, Chief Editor Arabic, JKAACL were Guests of Honour.Mr.Mufti Shafeeq-Ur-Rehman represented J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages.

The play was a thought provoking performance that left a lasting impact on the overwhelmed audiences including theatre luminaries like Mushtaque Ali Ahmad Khan, Nisar Naseem, Bhawani Bashir, Shakeel-Ur- Rehman, Rashid Barqi, Altaf Hussain, Arshad Mushtaq, Manzoor Ishbari and others.

After the performance of the play the chief guest Prof. Deeba Sarmad felicitated director of the play Anna Dora Dorno and presented momento. She appreciated the efforts of NSD for organising the festival and applauded the performing group of the play  ‘The Global City’. As usual there was a director’s meet with audiences which was followed by question-answer session.

Plays that entertained the audiences during this BRM were ‘Agni Tiriya’ ( hindi) written by Ravindra Bharathi and directed by Sangeeta Tiple;  ‘Armin Pather’ ( kashmiri ) directed by Shah-e-Jahan Ahmad Bhagat ; ‘Sifar’( hindi )written & directed by Sachin Malvi ; Bhaskar Mukherjee’s  ‘Phele Asa Megahertz’ (bengali) and writer Nicola Piazzolla’s English play ‘The Global City’ .

Plays showcased in 25th year celebration of Bharat Rang Mahotsav International Theatre festival organised by NSD captivated thousands of audiences who basked in the glory of heart-winning stories and superior performances.
