53 withdraw Candidature for phase 1st in Kupwara, 144 candidates in fray

According to District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Kupwara, Anshul Garg, 53 candidates viz. DDC – 04,  Sarpanch – 02 and Panch – 47 have withdrawn their candidature today on the last date for withdrawal of candidature for phase 1st in Kalaroos, Kralpora and Tangdar DDC constituencies of Kupwara.

Among 197 that had submitted their nomination forms only 144 candidates viz. DDC – 29, Sarpanch – 19 and  Panch – 96 are in fray for the elections.

The number of constituencies where elections shall be held in phase 1st in Kupwara district is now 52 viz. DDC – 03, Sarpanch – 07 and Panch – 42. The election for phase 1st shall be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 and the polling time is 7AM to 2PM.

The number of constituencies where only one nomination paper has been received and polls are not to be held are 38 and these include Sarpanch – 0 and  Panch – 37.
