5th day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’: Two Kashmiri, one Hindustani play staged at Tagore Hall

Two Kashmiri plays and one Hindustani play were staged on the fifth day of ‘Spring Theatre Festival’ being held at Tagore Hall here.

The plays included ‘Negative’ in Kashmiri by ACT, (Writer- Shaikh Haneef, Director – Zubair Farooq & Tahir Najar), ‘Vyeth Rozi Pakaan’ in Kashmiri by Firdous Dramatic Club (Writer & Director– Hassan Javaid) and ‘Shah Shahni’ in Hindustani by Viraj Kala Kendra (Writer & Director – Rajneesh Kumar Gupta).

The second edition of the festival will conclude on 2nd April and is being organised by Actors’ Creative Theatre (ACT) in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).

‘Shah Shahni’ play, a cross-border subtle love story, witnessed good response and applause from the audience. The play has a message that there are some relations that can’t be described but felt.

Shabir Mujahid, former Director Doordarshan Srinagar was also present on the occasion. “ACT has been desperately working to provide the space to the artists, especially youth and are making efforts to revive the theatres activities in the valley. We all should support them,” he said.

Four plays will be staged on Friday (1st April) that include ‘Earthly Therapy’ in Kashmiri and English by SP College (Writer & Director – Seeman Fatima & Sheeza Shah) ‘Local Taxes Extra’ in Kashmiri by Mehak Dramatic Club (Writer– Dr Sohan Koul & Director – Farhat Sidiq), ‘Ba Chhus Fankaar’ in Kashmiri by Young Dramatists Society (Writer – Hassan Javaid, Director – Altaf Hussain) and ‘Dak Ghar’ in Dogri by Samooh Theatre Group (Writer – Rabindra Nath Tagore, Translation – Sudheer Mahajan, Director – Ravinder Sharma).

Festival director Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan said that he was very happy to present the plays from Jammu. He also said that it is a wonderful experience to witness plays in different languages and on different subjects.
