SRINAGAR, Sep.11, 2023 :A one month long technical Theatre Workshop for honing theatre light designing,Set-Designing and other crafts of theatre began here on Monday. Organized byNational School of Drama TIE. Centre, Srinagar in collaboration with J&K Academyof Art, Culture & Languages. Secretary JKAACL Shri Bharat Singh Manhas JKAS was the Chief Guest and other dignitaries present on the occasion were NSD Centre In-Charge Shri Aruna Kumar Malik, Workshop Director Shri. Suresh Bhardwaj, senior officials of JKAACL and senior theatre activists. According to NSD officials the initiative is aimed at giving exposure to theatre practitioners and youth of Kashmir who are interested to learn the techniques and crafts of theatre on Industry standards.
Diverse range of topics dwelling on various aspects of theatre crafts will be covered during the workshop by eminent theatre experts. The workshop is monitored by NSD’s centre in-charge Shri. Aruna Kumar Malik and the Director of the Workshop is renowned theatre expert and national awardee Shri. Suresh Bhardwaj. Speaking on the occasion Centre In-Charge , NSD Shri Aruna Kumar Malik said that NSD will be organizing such workshops in future as well to give boost to the theatre lovers and such kind of workshops would help the promotion in theatre in Kashmir and also help the thetare practitioners of Kashmir to get break through role on different platforms.
The workshop is coordinated by NSD’s Srinagar Coordinator Shri Gulzar Ganaie. Around 30 students from various parts of Kashmir are participating in it. This workshop was an outcome of interaction of Theatre practitioners of Kashmir with the NSD’s Registrar Shri Pradeep Kumar Mohanty and society member NSD. Vani Tripathi Tickoo during their official visit to Kashmir on 14th July 2023.
It is in place to mention that the said technical workshop was a part of announcement made by NSD. Director Prof. (Dr.) Ramesh Chandra Gaur on 23rd Feb.2023 for the promotion of theatrical activities in Kashmir.
