The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday filed a chargesheet against four government officials, including a teacher who was appointed against a vacancy meant for reserved category candidates here, an official said.

The chargesheet was filed in the court of special judge, Anti-Corruption Jammu, against ex-Chief Education Officer (Jammu) Tarsem Lal, the then Zonal Education Officer Chowki Choura Ram Rakha, headmaster of Government High School Mallah Sheru Ram (retired) and Rehbar-e-Taleem teacher Priti Rani, an ACB spokesperson said.

He said a case was registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and the Ranbir Penal Code against the accused in 2017 following a complaint by Kasturi Lal, who alleged that the public servants misused their official positions for extraneous consideration to give undue benefit to Rani.

Rani, a resident of Mallah village, was appointed ReT teacher against a vacancy meant for Actual Line of Control (ALC) candidates, the spokesman said, adding the accused beneficiary, at the time of advertisement of the post, as well as that of joining, did not have a valid ALC certificate.

“The offence of conspiracy was established when after joining, Rani was immediately transferred from the school to the Office of the Chief Education Officer, Jammu, by Tarsem Lal,” he said.

The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for September 4, the official said. ( PTI )
