Please don’t leave me, stay with me for some time” said a little child to the sun in a pleading way. She was sitting outside during the sunset, about to cry. But, the sun couldn’t hear to her voice as it was far away from her.
Oh! The sun left her, and the sky was getting darker slowly and the little child was very sad. I asked her why? And her reply made me feel low. “She was a poor little child, afraid of the dark.” I grabbed her around my arms and gave her a warm hug and I think that she felt a safe zone between my arms.
Again I thought why? And my mind replied “because this is a dark Kashmir”.
She was afraid because she had to spend her evenings in the dark as there was no electricity. She was sad because she had to spend her night in the cold without a heater or an electric blanket. She was sad because she didn’t want her toes to get hurt again by some wall or something she can’t see due to the dark.
She was sad because she can’t sleep in the dark as her small childish mind makes her scare that some aliens and monsters will come and grab her in the dark. Not only that little child but many among us are afraid of the dark.
A child is scared of monsters and ghosts, a man is scared of thefts in the rooms,
a boy is scared if shoot dead in the dark,
a girl is scared of being raped or kidnapped,
a mother is scared as she cares for her family.
Everyone is scared of the dark as this is dark Kashmir. A student here fails to study under the candle light than how come he will complete his works easily and how will he succeed? No one gives shelter to a poor old person because they can’t see his appearance in the dark and they are scared.
For what are the power points here in Kashmir if they don’t benefit us? For what we pay large amount of electricity bills without electricity?
AINT WE HUMANS? CANT WE STAY HAPPILY?
“The rivers are here, the glaciers are here, snow is here, waterfall is here, and then why benefits are snatched from the people here and why outsiders are more benefited?”
from undeveloped roads in the valley to 2-G internet facilities, Kashmiris saw it all. From not getting the right to speak and raise their voices for their rights, to snatched electricity and water facilities, every rights and favourable things, everything is taken away from a Kashmiri.
I WONDER HOW COME WE KASHMIRIS ARE BESTOWED WITH THE ABILITY TO SURVIVE IN THOSE CRICES!
Kashmir is perhaps the only place in the world which is surrounded by the demanding voices for their rights that are being snatched away from us leaving the citizens here in difficulties. The roads and streets of Kashmir are filled with the people shouting for their rights
Right for the easy availability of water, right for enjoying their rights, for the access of facilities like internet and certain other platforms. But, none of our demands are fulfilled by the government.
This unavailability of things that are of utmost importance leads to difficult survival here. Kashmir as everyone knows is covered with snow during the winters and during this harsh time; people have to wash their faces with snow. Sometimes one has to melt the snow, burn the fuel and boil it for cooking food, taking bath, washing utensils and many more and this is also due to unavailability of the water and electricity.
Uri power point in Kashmir is capable to generate electricity for more than 70% of India than why not to Kashmir? Snow and glaciers can fulfill our water needs than why is the government too lazy? Oppressed places like Palestine, Afghanistan and Iran are never snatched the internet facility. Neither is any part of world snatched this facility except WORLDS LARGEST PRISON KASHMIR. Why?
The government takes decisions for us on their own and passes the bills and laws without our permission or agreement. You modify the articles, break and make the laws and regulations here leaving us to only think when and how?
Is this called DEMOCRACY? Is this the rights of the citizens? How come Kashmir and Kashmiris are a part of India I wonder?
“AINT WE HUMANS OH MY CREATOR?
DON’T WE HAVE OUR RIGHTS, OUR NEEDS, AND OUR WANTS?
WHY?
I ALWAYS WONDER!”
